A Tale of Sterling Silver
This week a young woman quietly walked around and then came to the desk. "Excuse me, may I ask you a question?" she politely asked as she pulled three pretty goblets from her purse. "Of course," I said, "how can we help you?" She turned a goblet over and pointed to a blemish on the bottom of one of the goblets. "I just came from a Gold Buyers storefront where they told me these weren't sterling" she said, "A woman put something on one and told me if it reacted, it wasn't silver. It did react and she offered me $5.00 each saying maybe they were worth that, but they could be worth much more. It didn't feel right, so I brought them to you." My jaw dropped.....
Someone offered $5.00 a piece for three lovely gilt-lined goblets with beautifully rendered figural stems, each clearly stamped? A day later the young woman was in possession of a check for well more than 100 times the original offer. One of our silver buyers had made an offer she couldn't refuse.
The moral of the story? Never, ever immediately sell an item to someone who claims it isn't what you thought it was. Get a second and sometimes even a third opinion. Educate yourself, and trust your instincts until you are thoroughly convinced otherwise.
As always, we appreciate your continued support and
look forward to seeing you at our next event.

About our neighborhood, the 10th Street Design District
in Naples, FL. (From the Naples Daily News Citifest Program)
Years ago, when the train came through town, it stopped at the Naples Depot at 10th Street and 5th Ave South. Since the train brought most of the goods into town, it was only natural that service businesses would “set up shop” near the Depot. And thus Naples’ first industrial district was born!

The train last ran in the early 1970s, but The Seaboard Air Line Railway passenger station, Collier County's newest historical museum, has recently undergone an amazing restoration. Our Depot welcomes visitors back to the railroading boom days of the Roaring Twenties and explains how generations of Southwest Floridians used technology and transportation to conquer a vast and seemingly impenetrable frontier. The Naples Depot Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is conveniently located in downtown Naples newly revitalized 10th Street Design District.

The 10th Street Design District, which lies between 7th Avenue North and 5th Avenue South and between US 41 and Goodlette Frank Road, is a lovely, easily-accessible, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood of businesses anchored by The Naples Depot. Our neighborhood is traditionally known as the downtown district for friendly, family-owned local businesses that cater to the needs of Naples’ residents.
The 10th Street Design District in Naples, Florida features numerous shops specializing in home décor and hobbies, as well as many service-related businesses and unique restaurants. Whether you need car repair, dog-grooming, a delicious meal, or simply want to enjoy a day shopping for unique furniture and accessories, you’ll find it in the 10th Street Design District. Stop in while you're in the neighborhood. We’d love to meet you!
